You may have heard about Canada legalizing marijuana for recreational use this year.  It’s a new law that goes into complete effect the next coming days.

 

Whether you want to partake or not, this new weed law is particularly important for US citizens that may have been convicted of a DWI.

 

For years, should you have a driving while intoxicated infraction, if you wait ten years, you’ll be admitted back into our fair neighbors to the north.  However, under this new recreational marijuana law, no persons convicted of a DWI under any circumstances are allowed admittance into the country.

 

There are some ways for US citizens to work around this new provision, but it required immigration attorney Rosanna Berardi to provide us the latest insight.
