Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Q-FM 97
This iconic album station hit the Buffalo airwaves on February 10th, 1975 and was the foundation of what would become the Mighty 97 Rock.
From 1975-1980 before becoming 97 Rock, it was the making of classic rock history for the music we know and love today.
Over the last 50 years, the Buffalo radio waves kept the impact of the legendary DJ’s and friends; Back when it was Morning Drive with John Rivers, Nights with the Father of Progressive Rock, Jim Santella,. The crew also included, Nights with Mark Henning and Overnights with Roger Christian. Middays with Skip Edmunds and Afternoon Drive with Program Director, John McGhan.
Though we lost the life of our good friend and influential DJ, Jim Santella, on May 10, 2024, his successful broadcast career will always be remembered.
We can never forget the days that shaped us to who we are today here at 97 Rock so, we want to hear about what shaped you when listening to Q-FM 97 as well.
