AUDIO: JP chats with Jim Santella

ImageThat’s right, Buffalo radio legend Jim Santella’s back with a memoir of his storied career behind the microphone, including days right here at Q-FM97, the precursor to the mighty 97 Rock. “Classic Rock, Classic Jock” is an account of Buffalo radio glory days, when rock radio was in its infancy and “Boss Jocks” were the go-to, trusted source for what is now known as “Classic Rock.”

Jim explains, “I took a $9,000 cut to work mid days. The book outlines a lot of those early radio days.” Santella had a long list of goals with his book, including Buffalo musicians, music and disc jockeys.  On names and dates, “I was very particular in making sure that they were really chronicled.  For instance, January 9th, 1969, is the first day I was on the air, and the first day of progressive radio came to Buffalo.”

The above is just a sample of what you’ll find in JP’s chat with Jim Santella. The book is a must read for fans new and old.  Some can relive cherished memories of Buffalo rock radio nostalgia, while younger fans can learn about what the medium was before it’s current state today.

Check out JP’s chat with a true Buffalo radio legend below, and be sure to catch Jim in person at Barnes and Noble on Niagara Falls Boulevard Tuesday, May 3rd at 7PM.
