#20 in The Greatest Year in Classic Rock Countdown: 1987

In 1987, U2 released “The Joshua Tree” and came to Buffalo in October.  Bono had broken his arm and performed wearing a sling.  Guns N’ Roses released “Appetite for Destruction” and became an instant hard rock sensation.

Other notable albums released in 1987 included “In the Dark” by the Grateful Dead, “Hysteria” be Def Leppard, “A Momentary Lapse of Reason” by Pink Floyd,” “Whitesnake” by Whitesnake, “Permanent Vacation” by Aerosmith and “The Lonesome Jubilee” by John Mellencamp.
